In perhaps the first lawsuit of its kind, a parent of a child with autism is suing his son's doctors, claiming they provided treatments without proven scientific benefit. The treatment, called chelation therapy, was expensive, and, the suit says, carried risks of serious harm.
Parents are raising questions about how the UNC School of Medicine is handling an autism program.

The Family Resource Network Inc. will hold a spring autism conference April 30 featuring Dr. Paula Kluth, an author, advocate and teacher.

However, the fight continues over similar legislation in Oklahoma, called "Nick's Law." The father of 12-year-old Nick Rohde, for whom the proposed law was named, wants Oklahoma to join surrounding states on the issue.
More children are needing special education services for autism because they've widened the definition.
Help raise awareness about autism. Autism is a bio-neurological, developmental disability. Since autism was first diagnosed in the U.S., the occurrence has climbed to one in 150 people across the country.
