| Make it Yourself: Flashcards

These Pictures Were Taken by my 9 Year Old Daughter (who enjoyed the process of making flashcards to help her sister)
Version 1 - Digital Photos Use a digital camera to make your own flashcards. This approach can be even more cost effective (and fun) if you refrain from printing the pictures and show them to your child directly on the camera/cellphone (anywhere!), digital frame or computer (as a slideshow). Another advantage to this approach is that you can personalize the photos, so "bed" will be the child's bed. Also, they can also be used to teach people identification (parents, siblings, teachers, etc.). Finally, you can take photos of objects and have the child match the objects to the photos or visa versa.
Version 2 - Magazines/Catalogs Cut photographs out of magazines and catalogs and paste to index cards. This saves money and is also good for the environment. If you have two identical catalogs, make two versions of each card and use them for matching.
