Delicious in all ways! July 13, 2010 Annieglutenfree Pamela's brownie mix does everything I want it to do. Pamela"s prcoducts now replace all my previous baking products and even my grandchildren love them. Great consistency and value.
There's only one problem..... July 1, 2010 crypticdragon And that is the weight I will gain from eating too many of these scrumptious brownies! I used the fudgiest brownie recipe with just oil and water, followed the directions to bake them for 18 minutes and got moist, chocolatey delicious brownies. This is my first Pamela's product...next I'm going to try the corn bread!
Very good brownies, slight carob-like flavor June 16, 2010 Anonymous Shopper (USA) Bottom line, this mix makes very good brownies.
The back of the package provides several different versions.
I tried the Fudge version first. My finicky husband liked them but I didn't, surprisingly. For me it was too thin and didn't taste quite right; I think the flavor is influenced by molasses, but it does end up tasted a little like carob, as another reviewer mentioned. Then I tried the Butter version, which pleased everyone in my family. Somehow using butter gave a richer taste, still a little like carob but not so much, and the velvety texture IMO made up for it (and texture for me is almost as important as taste, evident in my negative review of Namaste Fudge Frosting).
The directions are simple, complete, and easy to follow. You might think this would be a given, and I did too before trying "Namaste Fudge Frosting"; I'll never take complete directions for granted again.
UPDATE JUNE 21, 2010: Since trying this brownie mix I have tried Betty Crocker's Gluten Free Brownie Mix, and everyone in my family agreed that mix is a little better than this one. Betty Crocker's mix is a little sweeter but there is no hint of molasses/carob -- it just tastes like a normal chocolate brownie.
Birthday Cake Savior for GFCF + Egg, peanut and tree nut free household! November 10, 2009 gladdiola (Virginia Beach, VA) With a birthday fast approaching I was searching everywhere for a decent GFCF and egg, peanut and tree nut free cake recipe or mix. I've tried several different recipes from several different cookbooks and websites in the past, but never felt compelled to recreate those disappointing cake moments. I checked out Pamela's website and found an egg and dairy free cake recipe using the brownie mix. I'd seen Pamela's products at my local grocery store, but stayed away because of the steep price ($7 for a single bag of the brownie mix!). Then I found the product on Amazon and saw the subscribe and save price and the positive reviews, and that made me decide to take the plunge.
I tried out the egg and dairy free recipe and not only did all the kids enjoy it, but so did the adults, some even had seconds. The cake does taste and almost feels like brownie, but it tastes good and the texture is not off-putting. After 2 years of disappointing birthday cake for my 3 kids, I've finally found a tasty and economical solution. Thanks Pamela's Products!
It's delicious. Inbetween cake and bread July 31, 2009 msminni (NYC USA) I love this gluten free bread. Very easy to make....
a quick tip. After mixing and putting in bread pan, leave it
in a 200 degree oven for an hour and then bake it for another hour at 350. It gets a crispy crust but stays soft and firm on the inside. Try sprinkling a little raw sugar on the top before putting in oven. The only problem with this bread is that I overeat it.
