A safety concern July 10, 2010 robgman (Anacortes, WA) I am a fan of Pamela's gluten free products and have been happy with all of them until I got the Raisin Walnut Cookies. I just received the order a couple of days ago. I've eaten four of the cookies and they are very good tasting. However, in two of the four cookies I found myself chewing what presumably was walnut shells! I could have easily chipped or broken a tooth.
Pamela's makes some great products but this one is "risky".
Not bad! June 29, 2010 MEH I got the chunky chocolate chip cookies. They TASTE really good, yummy flavor and the chocolate is great. Like many gluten-free desserts, the texture leaves a lot to be desired. They're very crumbly, many of the cookies didn't even make it to me in one piece, and they'll often fall apart in your hands. Not sure if the other flavors are the same, I have only tried the chocolate chip, but they do taste good enough that I'd try another flavor when I run out of these - which will take a while, I'm the only GF person in the household and six boxes of these plus some Betty Crocker GF mixes and I'm set for a while!
I'm fairly new to gluten free baking at home, but I've yet to find many recipes that have very impressive or even edible results. Some aren't bad, but few come anywhere close to the "real thing." These might have a bad texture, but they're still very satisfying cookies. No weird tastes from the flours used. The few cookie recipes I've tried at home were absolutely horrible, but if I could choose any GF dessert, I think the (other brand) cake and muffin mixes are better than these for sure. Nice to have around when you don't feel like making your own though. For ready-to-eat GF foods, these are great.
Pamela's Products Peanut Butter Cookies. May 30, 2010 Templeton These Peanut Butter cookies are the best peanut butter cookies I have had. This company makes a lot of products for people that have food allergies, like myself. Typically, the food that is made for people who have food allergies is bland, doesn't taste good and has a hard stale feel to it, these DO NOT! These cookies are soft, you can see the peanut butter chunks in them and they taste good plain, with ice cream, or even heated up for a few seconds.
I would recommend these cookies to anyone looking for a tasty treat regardless if they have food allergies or not.
OK but ... May 28, 2010 Lynrie (Dallas, Texas) 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
...the Organic Chocolate Chip Pecan Shortbread 2-Count Cookies (Pack of 12) were within 60 days of their expiration date upon arrival. They were tasty but crumbles, too many crumbs, NOT the nicely formed cookies depicted. I wouldn't buy theses again UNLESS I knew the expiration date was further out. Hopefully they would have an improved taste and form.
So my first try with wheat and gluten free cookies was "just OK" :-s
Pamelas Wheat Free Chocolate Chunk Cookies - Yum! February 23, 2010 M. L. Tomaino (NJ) Love them! I think that these are one of the best wg free chocolate chip cookies out there. I usually try not to buy them because I will eat them all. Even my daughter (who is not a celiac) eats them when she comes by. I told her eat the other ones but she prefers these over other brand names. Kudos.
